How to make a My prayer life could very well be described as a mess. I've always managed to sneak in a prayer or two each day, but I've never consciously sat down and focused on prayer. I could blame it on my chaotic life as a journalism teacher, always racing to meet one deadline or another, but the fact of the matter is that I was undisciplined.
It had never occurred to me to keep a prayer journal and actually be organized in my approach to prayer...until I started hanging with the Bible journaling crowd, many of whom really have their acts together.
So I started researching how to make and use a prayer journal, and in the past month, I've tried several approaches and am still looking for the one that works for me.
Here are some ideas I've gathered, plus some resources for you.
1. Do a prayer journal in a notebook of some kind: a spiral, a folder with brads or a loose leaf binder. Of these the binder offers the most flexibility. Divide it into sections. Your sections may vary according to your needs, but many use categories such as: Personal, Spouse, Family, Church, Friends, Neighbors
2. Use a personal planner and set it up as a prayer journal
3. There's an app for that. There are several prayer journal apps for iPhones and Androids. Perhaps a little less personal than keeping a notebook, but you always have your phone with you. I tried this approach, and will most certainly keep the app on my phone, but I need something more personal.
4. Use downloadable printable forms from the internet to set your prayer journal up.
